Key Stage 3 & 4

IN THE MUSEUM

The Education Department is pleased to welcome secondary school groups to the Museum and regularly works with teachers to develop bespoke workshops. Due to the Museum's size, it is an ideal place to visit with small groups (such as SEN or G&T groups) and is a fascinating place for GCSE students to explore.

During any visit, pupils will see how Soane designed his house to show space, light and invention manipulated in the skilful hands of the architect. Pupils experience this 'Academy for Architecture' frozen in time, as Soane intended.

A visit to the Museum can focus on a wide range of themes and subjects:

  • History
       - Ancient Civilisations
       - Early Nineteenth Century
  • Science
       - Structures and Forces (Domes)
  • Maths
       - Shape and Pattern
  • English
       - Creative Writing
  • Art and Design
       - Drawing the Collection and Museum
       - Art History

A tour of the Museum lasts 2 hours.
Whole-day visits (10:00am-2:30pm) can be arranged to involve work around the Museum (including drawing and note-taking) and activities in the Education Space.

Please contact the Head of Education to arrange a visit and to discuss your requirements.
